Thanks for visiting our page. I'm new to this blogging stuff so please be patient while I learn my way around this stuff. But, in the meantime, I'd love to hear from you!
February 09 Feb. 09, 2008 UpdateThis week's update will be short and sweet because I'm still feeling under the weather. Connie and I registered another successful week despite the fact that we are both dealing with cold/flu symptoms. Connie is feeling much better and will start her workout program at the ladies fitness center (with her Mom) on Monday (02/11/2008). I don't feel quite as good as Connie, so my workout program might be put on hold for another week. Regardless, we combined to lose 8.8 pounds this week, for a total combined weight loss of 44.2 pounds since Jan. 02, 2008. Connie (21 pounds) has achieved 17.8% of her weight loss goal while I'm (23.2 pounds) currently at 32.8% of my goal. One thing I would like to reiterate, we do have a cheat day on Saturday each week, and we feel this mini reward helps us to remain focused during the week and on Sunday. We don't overdo it, but like I stated previously, if we desire a fat juicy hamburger, then we eat it. Not saying this cheat day twist will work for everybody, but for us it seems to keep us motiviated. Good luck to everyone out there that is fighting the good weight loss fight. Until next time this is Rick signing out. February 02 Official One Month UpdateConnie and I are still fighting the good fight. Connie caught a bad cold on Monday and passed it on to me, so we have been sick for much of this week. However, we have stuck to our plan and 30 days into our diet we have lost a combined 35.4 pounds. We plan to ramp up our exercise program in the second month. Connie, along with her Mom, has joined a womens fitness center and will be working out three times a week concentrating on cardio and light weight lifting. I will be implementing some heavier weight lifting, along with isometrics, and we will both be performing more treadmill work. This is more of a lifestyle change for us, than a diet. We are starting to enjoy eating healthier foods, something we hope to make a habit for the rest of our lives. While all of this sounds peachy keen, we do have some days when we don't feel like sticking to our plan as much, but we normally fight through it as a team. Thats it for this week, for those of you out there working a plan, stick with it because the rewards will be worth it in the end. Good luck! January 18 Weight loss UpdateThis morning, Connie and I had our weekly weigh-in, and since Jan. 2nd we have combined to lose 25.8 pounds in just 16 days. The further we get into this project the more fun it becomes. I look forward to the weekly weigh-in, and normally have a target weight that I'm looking to achieve. We have basically cut out junk food, white bread, potatoes, soft drinks and all fried foods. We drink a lot of water and eat fruit between meals instead of snacking on junk food. Thus far, we haven't implemented an intense exercise program, but we have been walking on the treadmill approximately five or six times a week for a few minutes. So far so good, but we still have a long way to go. One unorthodox thing we do is to have a cheat day each week. Our cheat day is Saturday, and we eat whatever we want on this day. We don't go overboard, but if we desire a slice of pizza or a hamburger, we indulge ourselves as a reward for a job well done during the week. The main thing is to stay focused on your plan and to keep your mind disciplined at times of weakness.
Rick January 10 Weekly Weigh-InWell, we had our weekly weigh-in yesterday morning. So far we're doing pretty well on this diet. We don't get hungry and we're not getting bored with our meals either. We try to keep it about the same everyday, eating at the same time and doing our treadmill on a regular schedule. I'm planning on adding some pics today as soon as I get them uploaded from my camera.
We've tried dieting before a few times, but it seems we always got off track after the first week or so. This time we're sticking to it though, no excuses! And really I think we're finally both in the right frame of mind to do it the right way and stay with it. I've dieted before, about 6 years ago and I lost right at 100lbs in about 3 months and I didn't starve myself either! I was eating right and hardly even exercising at the time because I had back issues and couldn't, but it seemed like the weight just fell off. I doubt I'll be that lucky again but we're doing the same thing I did before and so far so good. January 06 Progress!Well it's Sunday and is our 5th day of dieting. So far it's been going amazingly well. We don't really have any cravings to deal with, although we do miss a lot of the bad foods we used to eat. But it's not really to where we're just dying to have some chocolate or something we really shouldn't have. Actually it's been kinda fun going to the store and picking out things that are good for us. Fun is the whole key to this thing for us. We're doing what we can to make it fun instead of more like a chore.
It was nice to see several of you out there adding us as friends. Like I said somewhere else, I'm really new to this blogging and space thing so if you wonder why I wasn't the one to add you first, that's why! I hope we all do well and it should be interesting to watch everyone's progress. |
